race day

Well, hello again! Did you think it was all over? Not quite--almost, but not quite! It's Sunday night, and it's been a busy weekend, just like all my weekends seem to be these days. This Tuesday (two days from now) will be 14 weeks since my TKR surgery and, since I never did give a 3-month update, this seemed like a good day to do so. Why is this a good day? Well, who would have thought that just 14 weeks after my surgery, I'd be able to walk in my school's annual Race for Education? No, I didn't run in the 5k race (but my husband did and won 1st place in his age group!!), but I did do the 1K Fun Run. Did I come in first? Well,no....nor 2nd, nor 3rd, but hey, I finished, and I felt fine. Just to prove it, here's a picture (that's me, waving from the middle of the crowd):

My life is, more or less, back to normal. I'm going to work and, being an elementary school teacher, I'm spending most of every day on my feet. I do try to sit down whenever possible, and I do get tired, but I'm making it just fine and I'm able to do everything I was doing before TKR surgery. Just to be completely accurate, however, I will tell you that if I stand too long, I do still have problems with my leg starting to feel slightly swollen. Most days I look forward to coming home and putting my feet up on the couch while I wait for Stan to fix dinner. And by the way, Stan is still taking the most fabulous care of me, and I couldn't do what I do without him! Other than that very slight discomfort, I'm having no problems, and certainly no pain. If anything, my TKR knee is now my "good" knee and my right knee still limps along.

Anyway, that's a short update just to let you know that all is well, and that I'm doing fine. I'll write again in a couple of months and hopefully, by that time,I won't even have the slight swelling problems anymore. Thanks for reading!
